TV Guide - November 14, 2000

The Dixie Chicks are fun, starting with the name, inspired by Little Feat's classic song "Dixie Chicken."  To boot, the trio takes the stage dressed to kill - then treats the audience, not to the slick dance number the uninitiated might expect, but to top-notch musicianship, strong vocals and fine tunes.  Highlights include a bluesy "Give It Up or Let Me Go," the pedal steel and banjo-driven ballad "Cowboy Take Me Away," the bluegrass rave-up "Sin Wagon" and the soaring "Wide Open Spaces."  They also display a comic flair in backstage skits with actor Andy Dick as a network consultant determined to make them change their style.
