Dixie Chicks
Pros: The Chicks returned this year in a huge way, handily reclaiming their throne as the most successful country group on Earth. Since their first nomination in 1998, they've only lost this category once.
Cons: A recent messy legal struggle with their record label could make the music-biz insiders who vote in the CMAs (and whose jobs rely on Nashville running smoothly) wary - but not enough to prevent what should be another golden egg.
